Thompson Chicago hotel review: Sophisticated downtown stay near the Magnificent Mile

We recently spent a few weeks in Chicago and went with two properties from the Hyatt chain for our stay. While Chicago has more than 20 Hyatt properties, we narrowed it down to Park Hyatt Chicago and Thompson Chicago, splitting our stay between them.

So far, this has been our second hotel stay at the property from the Thompson collection (you can read about our stay in Mexico at The Cape, a Thompson hotel here), and we were eager to check this Thompson out.

Opened in 2013, Thompson Chicago offers 247 rooms and suites to choose from and is conveniently located in Downtown Chicago, near the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan. Let’s take a closer look at what this hotel has to offer.

Park Hyatt Chicago hotel review: Why it is the best Hyatt points redemption in Chicago

This summer, we spent a couple of weeks in Chicago. For our stay, we went with our favorite hotel chain – Hyatt, and decided to split our stay between two properties. Did you know that Hyatt headquarters are located in Chicago, and the chain has more than 20 hotels represented in the city?

For our first 7 nights, we picked the luxurious Park Hyatt Chicago. Interestingly, Park Hyatt Chicago was the very first property to bear the Park Hyatt name when it opened its doors in 1980.

Park Hyatt Chicago is located steps away from Michigan Avenue and offers 146 guest rooms and 36 suites. Last year, the hotel underwent an extensive renovation project and reopened with a fresh look. Let’s take an in-depth look at all the amenities Park Hyatt Chicago has to offer.

Hyatt Regency Seattle, the Hotel Review

We recently went on a quick trip to Seattle, Washington, and opted to stay at the Hyatt Regency Seattle. This 45-story hotel is located in the heart of the city and welcomed its first guests in 2018. While Seattle has quite a few Hyatt choices, we were looking for a less worn-out hotel with great breakfast options and within walking distance of all the main city attractions; Hyatt Regency Seattle seemed to fit all the criteria.

Hyatt Centric Park City
Hyatt Centric Park City

One of the most popular winter destinations in Utah is the little town of Park City, just outside of Salt Lake City. Famous for its ski resorts, good food, and museums, Park City is definitely a great place to visit.

We stayed at Hyatt Centric Park City, located at the base of the Canyons Village. It’s a ski-in ski-out resort with standard rooms and one to four bedroom residences. This Hyatt’s great location, just 10 minutes away from the charming Main Street, is perfect for accessing everything you need and exploring Park City.

Hounds Tooth Inn, the Hotel Review

Hounds Tooth Inn

We were happy to discover this small rustic boutique inn from the Small Luxury Hotels of the World chain called Hounds Tooth Inn. Hounds Tooth Inn is a cozy and stylish property situated on 3.5 acres in the little town of Oakhurst, California. It’s located at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and is only a short drive from Yosemite National Park.

We have to admit, there are not so many properties that you can stay on points in proximity to National Parks. And we could not miss a chance to stay at one of them.

The Eliza Jane, the Hotel Review

Last December, we spent a few nights in New Orleans. This vibrant, historic city attracts many tourists yearly, and we decided to visit it right before Christmas. We hoped to combine exploring New Orleans’ attractions with diving into the Christmas spirit with festively decorated streets.

When looking for a place to stay, we quickly checked the Hyatt map of hotels in New Orleans so that we could book our stay on points. It appeared there are five Hyatt properties in the city, representing 5 Hyatt brands (or collections) – Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency, and The Eliza Jane from the Unbound Collection. After some consideration, we decided upon the latter. Located on the Magazine Street, this boutique hotel is only a few minutes from the famous French Quarter.
