We recently spent a week exploring the Island of Hawai‘i—also known as the Big Island—and quickly discovered that it’s full of fun and memorable experiences for families. Although we’ve been to Hawaii five times before, this was our first time on the Big Island, and it completely wowed us with its natural wonders, laid-back vibe, and incredible ecological diversity.

Recently, our family spent a few days in Seattle, Washington. After ten years of living in Northern California, we finally made our way up to the Emerald City to experience some of the best kid-friendly things to do in Seattle.

Known as the birthplace of Starbucks and grunge music, Seattle is also a major tech hub with the headquarters of Amazon and Microsoft. Located in the Northwest U.S., the city is beautifully surrounded by mountains, evergreen forests, and sparkling waterways.

Interestingly, it is one of the state’s least visited parks, along with Lassen Volcanic National Park, which we explored last year.

The unique pinnacles that define the park were formed 23 million years ago through volcanic activity and tectonic plate shifts. Today, Pinnacles National Park spans 26,000 acres of mostly untouched wilderness.
