Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is one of our favorite family-friendly Maui resorts to book with Hyatt points. We have stayed here twice with kids, and both times we were lucky enough to use a Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award and stay in an Andaz Suite.
And honestly, the extra space made such a difference. The Andaz Suite was very spacious for our family, with a separate living area, plenty of room for the kids, and the kind of setup that makes a longer Hawaii trip feel much easier.
The resort itself sits on 15 oceanfront acres in Wailea with direct access to Mokapu Beach. This is not the loudest, most waterpark-style resort in Hawaii, but that is exactly why I love it. It feels like a grown-up luxury resort that still works really well for families.
Our kids loved the pools and the resort activities, and we loved that everything felt easy. You can spend the morning at the beach, move to the pools in the afternoon, and then walk along the Wailea beach path before dinner. The location is one of the best parts of staying here because Wailea is beautiful, clean, and very easy with kids.

Another huge highlight at Andaz Maui is the breakfast buffet. It is honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had. Since we have Hyatt Globalist status, breakfast was included for our family, which saved a lot every morning. Grand Hyatt Kauai is the kind of resort where you check in and immediately understand why families keep talking about it. The pool area is the star: a lazy river, waterfalls, a 150-foot waterslide, and a large saltwater lagoon, basically the dream formula for kids who could spend the entire day in the water.
One thing to know: the beach in front of Grand Hyatt Kauai is beautiful, but it is not really a calm swimming beach. It is great for walking, playing in the sand, and enjoying the views, but for better swimming with kids, you’ll probably want to take a short drive to nearby Poipu beaches.
We stayed in an Ocean View 1 King / 1 Queen Bed Room with two kids, and it was spacious enough for our family. Of course, a suite is always nice, but this room type worked well for us because everyone had enough space, and we still got those beautiful ocean views.

This is not the quiet hidden gem hotel. This is the “we are in Waikiki and everything is right here” hotel.

Hilton Waikoloa Village is not just a hotel. It is basically a small vacation village. The resort has an ocean-fed saltwater lagoon with wild sea turtles and tropical fish, pools, waterslides, canal boats, and trams connecting the property.
This is the kind of place kids remember because getting around the resort feels like an activity by itself.
The lagoon is the big reason we loved this resort. It gives kids a calmer place to swim and snorkel than open-ocean conditions, and you can also spend time at the pools and waterslides.
During our stay at Hilton Waikoloa Village with kids, we were offered a few upgrade options as Hilton Diamond members and ended up paying $150 per day for a Palace Tower One Bedroom Royal Suite.
