Mexico City in December has its magic, twinkling lights in the parks, bustling streets lined with poinsettias, and the warm hospitality that makes you instantly feel at home. In this Hyatt Regency Mexico City review, I’ll share how our two-night stay at this polished Polanco property wrapped all of that into one memorable holiday trip.
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City delivered comfort, convenience, and thoughtful touches, including Christmas teddy bears for the girls, that made our family feel like honored guests from the moment we arrived.
How to book Hyatt Regency Mexico City on points
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City is a Category 4 Hyatt hotel that can be booked with points. As always, we transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards® to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio for an instant and easy redemption.
When we stayed in December, it was still a Category 3, with standard rooms at 9,000 points per night and the spacious Premium Suite, perfect for our family, at 18,000 points. We booked the suite directly to guarantee plenty of space, using 36,000 points for two nights instead of paying about $969 in cash.

As of March 2025, the hotel’s move to Category 4 means standard rooms now cost 15,000 points per night, and premium suites are 30,000 points. Even with the increase, it’s still a great redemption, especially since you can also use a Category 1–4 Free Night Certificate at the Hyatt Regency Mexico City.

Check in at Hyatt Regency Mexico City and first impressions
From the moment we arrived, the Hyatt Regency Mexico City impressed us with its service and attention to detail. The polished marble lobby was dressed for the holidays, and the festive atmosphere was made even sweeter when the front desk team handed our girls adorable Christmas teddy bears at check-in.

The Executive Suite at Hyatt Regency Mexico City
At 1,001 square feet, our Executive Suite felt like a small apartment, something we deeply appreciate when traveling with kids.

The living room had a sofa, armchairs, a dining table for four, and large windows overlooking the city. This is also where the girls slept on two comfortable rollaway beds, which housekeeping set up while we were out for less than an hour after check-in. That kind of efficiency is rare, we’ve spent far too many trips chasing down extra beds at other hotels.

A separate bedroom with a king-size bed meant we could unwind after the kids went to sleep. There were two bathrooms, a half bath off the living area, and a full bath with both a tub and shower in the bedroom..

Funny enough, when we went out for a short walk a few hours after checking in, we came back to find two more Christmas teddy bears for the girls, along with decadent cakes from the bakery downstairs!

Regency Club at Hyatt Regency Mexico City
As Hyatt Globalists, we enjoyed access to the Hyatt Regency Mexico City Club (Lounge) on the upper floors, which offered sweeping views of Chapultepec Park and the city skyline.

One of the highlights of our Hyatt Regency Mexico City review is the hotel’s excellent Club Lounge. As Globalists, we enjoyed the automatic access.
If you’re a World of Hyatt Globalist, like we are, you receive complimentary Hyatt Club (Lounge) access automatically. Guests staying in select rooms at Hyatt Regency Mexico City, such as our Executive Suite, also enjoy lounge access as part of their booking.
For other stays, you can use a Club Access Award, which is part of Hyatt’s Milestone Rewards program. You’ll earn two awards after 20 qualifying nights (or 35,000 base points) in a calendar year, and another two awards after 30 nights (or 50,000 base points). Additionally, you can gift or receive the Club Access Award from another World of Hyatt member! Simply add it to your reservation!

While we don’t always love staying at properties with lounges (some can feel crowded or offer lackluster breakfast options), this was not the case here. The lounge at Hyatt Regency Mexico City spans two spacious rooms, making it easy to find a quiet table even during peak hours.
Each morning, we enjoyed a continental breakfast with plenty of variety, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, and hot dishes that went beyond the basics.
Throughout the day, there were snacks and beverages available, perfect for a quick bite between outings. In the evenings, the lounge served hors d’oeuvres, light meals, and appetizers, along with a selection of alcoholic beverages.
Dining options at Hyatt Regency Mexico City
The hotel offers multiple dining options beyond the lounge. Rulfo serves Latin American cuisine in a stylish setting; you can enjoy a casual lunch here.

Yoshimi offers excellent sushi and tempura, while Teppan Grill is a fun choice for teppanyaki. Amado, the hotel’s bakery, became our go-to for takeaway pastries and chocolates.
Amenities and Facilities at Hyatt Regency Mexico City
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City offers a range of amenities designed for both business and leisure travelers. One standout feature is the heated indoor pool, complete with an adjacent outdoor sundeck overlooking Chapultepec Park. Guests can relax on a poolside lounger while taking in the views.
Although we didn’t have time to check it out during our stay, our days were packed with exploring Polanco and beyond, it’s a great option if you’re traveling with kids who need a break from sightseeing or if you want a quiet moment to unwind.
Kid’s Club at Hyatt Regency Mexico City
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City doesn’t have a kids’ club, but it’s still extremely family-friendly. Our girls loved the spacious Executive Suite, which easily accommodated their rollaway beds, giving everyone room to spread out. Thoughtful touches like Christmas teddy bears and surprises from the hotel bakery made the stay feel festive and special.
While the hotel doesn’t offer organized children’s activities, the combination of spacious rooms, attentive service, and proximity to Chapultepec Park made it easy to keep the kids entertained. Between exploring nearby museums and returning to cozy rooms with snacks and treats from the lounge or bakery, it felt like a seamless blend of comfort and convenience for families traveling with kids.
Hyatt Regency Mexico City location
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City location in Polanco put us within walking distance of Chapultepec Park, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the city’s best shopping along Avenida Presidente Masaryk.
We used Uber for longer trips, affordable and reliable, but many of our favorite moments came from strolling through the neighborhood, stopping for churros, or browsing the weekend market stalls.

Here are five things you might not know about CDMX before your first visit:
- High Altitude: The city sits over 7,000 feet above sea level, so it’s normal to feel short of breath or a bit tired. Take it slow and stay hydrated.
- Traffic Is Intense: Rush hours can be unpredictable and heavy. Planning ahead or sticking to walkable neighborhoods makes sightseeing easier.
- Uber Is Your Best Friend: Affordable, safe, and convenient, Uber is the easiest way to get around without worrying about negotiating fares.
- Foodie’s Paradise: CDMX offers incredible food, from world-class fine dining at places like Pujol and Quintonil to street-food gems like esquites and tamales.
- Museum Central: With over 150 museums, there’s something for everyone, from the impressive Anthropology Museum to quirky spots like the Museum of Mexican Toys.
Whether you’re exploring nearby parks, walking through vibrant neighborhoods, or sampling local cuisine, staying in Polanco makes it easy to access the best of Mexico City. Read about things to do in Mexico City with kids here.

The Executive Suite gave our family plenty of space to relax, the Regency Club made meals and snacks effortless, and the staff went above and beyond with thoughtful touches, like Christmas teddy bears and surprise treats from the bakery—that made the stay feel truly special.
For families visiting Mexico City, this hotel combines comfort, convenience, and top-notch service with excellent value when booked on points. In our experience, it’s a property that delivers both luxury and genuine warmth, making it a standout choice for a family getaway in Polanco.
