Hyatt Regency Seattle, the Hotel Review

We recently went on a quick trip to Seattle, Washington, and opted to stay at the Hyatt Regency Seattle. This 45-story hotel is located in the heart of the city and welcomed its first guests in 2018. While Seattle has quite a few Hyatt choices, we were looking for a less worn-out hotel with great breakfast options and within walking distance of all the main city attractions; Hyatt Regency Seattle seemed to fit all the criteria.

Booking

Hyatt Regency Seattle is a Category 4 Hyatt Hotel with 15,000 Hyatt Points per night. Yet this is the second time in a row we opted for the cash rate to save those points for better redemption. This hotel is also a great option to redeem your Hyatt Category 1-4 Free Night Award!

We booked a Standard 2 Queen Beds Room and decided to pay $655 for three nights instead of redeeming 45,000 Hyatt Points, as the value of 1.45 cents per point did not seem worth it.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

A few days prior to our stay, we got a welcome email from the hotel management explaining the Globalist benefits, breakfast options, etc. This was our first time visiting Seattle and, obviously, staying at this hotel. So we responded that we were very excited about our stay and that we also had a special occasion to celebrate, and we inquired if they could possibly upgrade us to a suite. They informed us there wasn’t any availability at the moment, but if something opened up, they would be happy to upgrade us.

We had already been automatically upgraded to a corner room, and to our surprise, a day before our stay, the reservation automatically changed to a Regency Suite!

Interestingly, out of 1,260 rooms in Hyatt Regency Seattle, only 30 of them are suites. So the chances of getting an upgrade to a suite are not that great.

We arrived at the hotel late in the evening, and the check-in went pretty smoothly; we got our keys and proceeded to our almost top-floor Suite.

Parking

The hotel offers limited self-parking in the underground parking garage, which can be accessed from the lobby by the elevator or either 8th or 9th Street. Overnight parking costs $43 per night (the parking fee is waived for Globalists on award nights).

Globalist upgrade

We got a Regency Suite on the 43rd floor of the building with breathtaking city and Elliott Bay views!

This 725 sq. ft. suite had a comfortable king-sized bed in the bedroom, a spacious living area with a pullout couch, large windows offering stunning city views, and a designated workspace.

Additionally, we requested a crib for our youngest, and the girls claimed the living room as their room 😃.

Globalist Perks

Our welcome treats included chips, water, and a bottle of wine.

Dining

Hyatt Regency Seattle has a few dining options on-site, including Andare Kitchen & Bar, a steakhouse called Daniel’s Broiler (and Daniel’s Broiler Lounge), and Market.

Andare Kitchen & Bar is located on the Lobby level and offers wood-fired pizzas, homemade pasta, and desserts. This is also the restaurant where you would get your complimentary Globalist breakfast (for two adults and two kids).

Breakfast

Breakfast at Andare Kitchen & Bar was served both buffet and menu style. The buffet selection included traditional scrambled eggs and bacon, oatmeal, and pastries. I would not say that the buffet offered an abundance of various delicacies, but everything we tried (including the coffee) was delicious.

We opted for made-to-order omelets and waffles from the menu and would also grab some fresh berries and pastries from the buffet area for the girls.

You could also get your breakfast at the grab-and-go Market on the second floor.

VIP Lounge

Now, Hyatt Regency Seattle also has a Lounge on the 8th floor. This lounge may be different from what other lounges at Hyatt properties may look like. It was described as more of a working space or a spot to relax rather than a place to get your complimentary breakfast or any food and drink service whatsoever.

The lounge indeed had a great furnished space and a cozy patio, but it only offered complimentary coffee & teas, water/soda, and protein bars.

Bottom Line

In conclusion, if you’re planning a trip to Seattle, the Hyatt Regency Seattle is a fantastic hotel choice. We enjoyed our time at this newly opened hotel; we had excellent service and great city views. The hotel management also went the extra mile by reaching out with a follow-up email after our stay, demonstrating their commitment to guest satisfaction.

Located conveniently in the heart of the city, Hyatt Regency Seattle was within walking distance of major tourist attractions, such as the Space Needle and Pike Place Market.
