The annual Hyatt award chart updates take effect on March 25, 2025, adjusting the points required for free nights at some hotels. No new categories have been introduced, and category point values remain unchanged.
To maximize your points, book before March 25 to lock in current rates. Reservations made or modified after this date will reflect the updated chart. If a hotel moves to a lower category, existing reservations for stays on or after March 25 will receive an automatic point refund.
What is Hyatt Hotel’s Category
Hyatt assigns each hotel a category from 1 to 8, which determines the number of points needed for a free night or the general pricing range for cash bookings. While a hotel’s brand—such as Park Hyatt or Andaz—reflects its style and service level, the category primarily indicates redemption costs. Hotels in the same category require the same amount of points for award stays, regardless of brand.
Important things to keep in mind
- Reserve by March 25, 2025, to lock in the current amount of points required per night.
- Starting March 25, reservations made or changed will follow the new free night award chart (updated amount of points required per night)
- Guests who have reservations for nights on or after March 25 will be refunded the difference in points if the hotel has moved to a lower category.

- Thompson Palm Springs, moving from Category 5 to 6.
- Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa, moving from Category 5 to 6.
- Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, moving from Category 7 to 8.
- Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, is moving from Category 7 to 6.
- Park Hyatt Doha, moving from Category 5 to 4.
- Alila Ubud, moving from Category 3 to 4.
- Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills, moving from Category 7 to 8.
- Grand Hyatt Tokyo, moving from Category 7 to 8.
- Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, moving from Category 6 to 7.
- Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, moving from Category 6 to 7.
