During our first trip of the year, we stayed at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek in the Vail Valley of Colorado. This ski-in/ski-out resort is situated in the heart of Beaver Creek Village at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. Park Hyatt Beaver Creek offers numerous winter activities, such as skiing, snowmobiling, and even a ski school. Even though we don’t ski, our family still enjoys visiting mountain resorts in winter and participating in other winter activities. In this post, we will take a closer look at this property and explore everything that it has to offer.
Booking
We used our Hyatt points to book a stay at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. Since it was a Category 7 Hyatt hotel at the time of booking, we redeemed 35,000 Hyatt Points per night for a Standard Room. The cash rate per night during our stay would have been $6,586 ($2,195 per night), so we redeemed our points at 6.27 cents per point!
Last January, we visited Park City, Utah, and stayed at Hyatt Centric Park City. You can read the full review here.
Note that last March, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek got bumped up in its Hyatt category, and it is now a Category 8 hotel with 45k Hyatt points per night! For the past few years, Hyatt has been updating its award charts and changing some hotel categories, affecting the number of points required for a stay.

Getting there from the airport
Now, this is where it gets tricky. If you are flying to Denver International Airport (the closest major airport), Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is located 130 miles from it or at least a 2-hour drive. Considering the winter weather conditions, you have a 4-hour trip from the airport to the hotel, as it happened with us. So keep in mind that you have to rent a car, and your trip might take longer than anticipated (also, on our way back, the highway 70 was closed, so we had to take a 6-hour detour).
Check in
Upon arrival, valets immediately greeted us and handled our luggage while we proceeded inside to the open-concept lobby.
While initially built in 1989, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek underwent a significant renovation project in 2019 and 2022, which focused on the lobby area and the on-site restaurant (not the rooms).
Unfortunately, due to high occupancy, the hotel could not offer us any room upgrades during our stay, leaving us with the original booking.
The Globalist perks Park Hyatt Beaver Creek provided included complimentary water and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Room
We booked an ADA King Tub Room as it was the only option available for booking with points at the moment (we booked it approximately 11 months in advance). The room seemed outdated and had one king-sized bed, a work desk, and a small seating area. Since we had to request a rollaway and the crib for the girls, the room was somewhat tight but manageable.
When the hotel manager contacted us a few days before our arrival, we wondered about the availability of a bigger room or a rollaway bed for our kids. The manager informed us that the rollaway bed would cost $50 per night!
However, upon checking in, the front desk attendant kindly offered to provide the beds for our girls complimentary.
Bathroom
The bathroom featured an ADA tub, one sink counter, and a signature Park Hyatt Le Labo Bergamote 22 toiletries. In addition to the adult-size plush robes and the slippers, you could also request the kids size (those came in handy while going out for a soak in an outdoor hot tub).
Dining at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek
8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill
8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill is an onsite restaurant located at the base of the Haymeadow Express Gondola. They offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bar service throughout the day.
Recently, in the summer of 2022, they expanded their covered patio with heaters and televisions, allowing outdoor dining with Vail Valley mountain range views all year round.
Breakfast
At 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill, breakfast was only served buffet style. As Globalists, we received our complimentary breakfast for the four of us.
Many breakfast options included traditional dishes, such as scrambled eggs with bacon, pastries, and fruits. Additionally, there was an omelet bar where you could customize your omelet with your choice of ingredients.
Dinner
We had dinner at 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill only once. The menu seemed expensive, and the food was good but nothing extraordinary.
They also provided a kids menu (the same menu offered at the Brass Bear Bar), and our girls picked the grilled salmon with a side of fruits.
Brass Bear Bar
The Brass Bear Bar is located at the heart of the lobby, offering floor-to-ceiling views of the surrounding mountains. As part of the recent renovations, the hotel added an extra fireplace to the existing one.
The bar area was a nice place to unwind and enjoy a selection of craft beers, cocktails, or wines while taking in the scenery.
Moreover, Brass Bear Bar offered a small dining menu (the food service is from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM), including the kids menu from the 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill, so you could also grab a bite!
One night, we were fortunate enough to catch a live performance, and although the bar seemed quite busy, we could find a table even without a reservation.
💡 Good to Know
Since Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is located in the village, there are plenty of other dining options within minutes of a walk. We loved the Beaver Creek Chophouse and Blue Moose Pizza.
Daily hot chocolate and hot cider in the lobby
Amenities
Ski valet
The gondolas, located just a few steps from the resort, provide convenient ski-in/ski-out access to Beaver Creek Mountain. What’s more, you can also take a break while the valet keeps your ski and snowboard equipment secure. To ensure a perfect winter experience, it is recommended that you purchase your lift ticket or season pass in advance.
Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School
Beaver Creek Ski and Snowboard School offers private and group lessons for people of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a child or an adult, you can enhance your skills and have a great time on the mountain. The school is located next to Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, giving guests quick access to morning or full-day lessons.
Exhale Spa
Exhale Spa, located at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, offers a unique combination of fitness and spa experiences. Its services include revitalizing spa treatments, various fitness classes such as Barre, Yoga, and Pilates, and also professional salon services. Exhale Spa has everything you need, whether you are looking for relaxation or want to feel refreshed.
Pool and hot tubs
Park Hyatt Beaver Creek features a pool and jacuzzis that are accessible year-round and heated during winter. The pool area comprises one large pool and five hot tubs. It was indeed an exhilarating experience to soak in the hot spa while it was freezing and snowing outside. We even checked the water temperature and found that it was 103°F in the spa and 83°F in the pool!
S’mores kits
Park Hyatt Beaver Creek offers complimentary S’mores kits for guests to enjoy at the oversized outdoor fire pit at any time.
Area Attractions
We found Vail Valley in Colorado is an ideal destination for enjoying winter activities beyond skiing or snowboarding. The Beaver Creek Ice Rink, located right in front of the hotel, was our kid’s favorite for sure! The charming mountain towns in Vail Valley provide various experiences, ranging from exciting snow tubing and sledding to serene sleigh rides and visits to museums. Read more about the top kid-friendly things to do in Vail Valley, Colorado, in winter (besides skiing) here.
Bottom line
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa. The resort is conveniently located for skiing, with ski-in/ski-out access and a ski school for all ages.
However, we felt that the hotel did not have the luxurious atmosphere that we expected from the Park Hyatt brand, especially considering the high rate of 45,000 Hyatt Points per night. This was our fifth stay at a Park Hyatt property, and we have experienced better service and amenities at the other hotels (you can read more about our stays at Park Hyatt Istanbul, Park Hyatt Chicago, Park Hyatt St. Kitts and Nevis, Park Hyatt Washington D.C. here).
